Reservoir, the 2009 album by indie rock band Fanfarlo, is a masterpiece of orchestral pop. With its lush arrangements, soaring melodies, and thoughtful lyrics, the album is a testament to the band's musical and lyrical prowess.
The album opens with the haunting "I'm a Pilot," a song that sets the tone for the rest of the record with its sweeping strings and soaring chorus. From there, the album moves seamlessly from the upbeat and catchy "Ghosts" to the introspective ballad "Comets" and the driving anthem "The Walls Are Coming Down."
Throughout the album, Fanfarlo's trademark sound is on full display, with lead singer Simon Balthazar's distinctive voice leading the charge. But it's the band's use of instrumentation that really sets Reservoir apart. From the accordion on "Luna" to the horns on "The Walls Are Coming Down," each song is expertly crafted to showcase the band's musical creativity.
But it's not just the music that makes Reservoir such a standout album. The lyrics are equally impressive, with themes of love, loss, and hope woven throughout. From the heart-wrenching "Harold T. Wilkins" to the uplifting "Finish Line," each song tells a story that is both personal and universal.

Some songs just demand to be listened to with headphones on for the true experience possible. Don't get me wrong, overall one of my favorite songs ever. But I listened to it while doing chores the other day without headphones, and listening with headphones is about 100x better.
They swallowed it whole, they went for the gold, for the gold We fall for the same lies we all have the same shoes to fit
The preachers and books of your empire will fight here alone Some day the will be forgotten and die one by one
The walls, the walls are coming down The here and now is coming round It will someday let you down The ships, the ships are coming in The great ideas are wearing thin There is nothing left to do
For atoms have gone as far as atoms will go Your books write themselves They line up in row after row
The walls, the walls are coming down The here and now is coming round It will someday let you down The ships, the ships are coming in The great ideas are wearing thin There is nothing left to do
oh please. just because they both use brass instruments, doesn't make them sound the same! Beirut lays heavily on Zach Condon's vocals, it's almost an instrument, that's why you don't really find clear lyrics on Beirut. AND I LOVE THEM BOTH.
It's a great music and it is a great band and Beirut is also a great band with great songs, so I don't understand all these bad comments about they seem similar. Grow up people!
